Training
Archery is an Olympic sport and is included in the Pan American, World, Commonwealth, Para-Olympic and Asian Games. The sport is governed by the Federation International de Tir a l'Arc (FITA). There are 130 member countries within this international federation. In Canada, the Federation of Canadian Archer (FCA), founded in 1927 governs the sport. The FCA is affiliated with FITA. Within Canada, each province has a provincial sport organization- the OAA ( Ontario Association of Archers ) in Ontario. Ottawa Archery Club is affiliated with FCA and OAA. They provide the link between nationally coordinated programs and participant clubs, schools and recreational camps. The Ottawa Archery Club has an enrollment of over 50 members from age 7 to 80 truly demonstrating archery is a sport of all ages.
We are not currently able to offer training sessions, but we reccomend the RA Centre for beginners. They have a good indoor program, and many of our members started there and came to us when ready to shoot outside.
We would like to have an indooor winter shooting location, but so far the membership has not indicated enough interest to support this activity. If you're interested in volunteering to help with this, or interested in teaching please let us know by contacting:
